Fleeting white head, maybe about two fingers and settles pretty quickly down to a small topped puck.įruit soda aromas mostly like a sweetened orange popsicle.

Popsicle like orange, with a bit of clarity but mostly opaque and lighter hues towards the sides of the glass. Poured from the bottle into a Spiegelau IPA glass. It finishes briskly acidic with an off-dry texture, and with a brief echo of orange sodas once more. Medium bodied for sour ale, the beer has the mouthfeel, acid level, and palatability of traditional German Gose but with those strong mandarin and mango underpinnings. Tangy, peppery and fruity, the late flavors are distinctively ale-like and reminds us that this is a beer and not a smoothie. Tartness carries a slight green apple and white grape quality into a late palate of slight hop bitterness and pectin spices from the skins of the fruits. Sweet and slightly orange cola-like, the beer opens with a grainy-sweet taste and hints of sourdough, creamsicle and fruit tarte.Īs the beer races across the middle palate, the fruits turn from juicy, plump and creamy as the malts loose their starchy sweet upstart. With the scent of oranges and mangos rolling from the rim so do hints of cider and wine with a sweeter orange cola character for charm. Pale and orange gold, Mandarin & Mango Crush carries a hazy pour into a froth capped session of sheets of white foam. Just in time for summer, Dogfish Head is beating the Delaware heat with a tart and refreshing ale that celebrates the uniqueness of orange and mango particularly well. It is worth throwing into a mix-a-six or trying a single pour. I would recommend it to people looking for something fruity with a bit of a candy-like edge. I probably wouldn't drink it often but I could drink it again. The mango wasn't very present while drinking the beer but in the aftertaste it definitely showed up. Overall: The label states that this is an "ALE WITH MANDARIN ORANGE, MANGO AND NATURAL FLAVORS ADDED." It does have a citrus flavor which came across more as tangerine but was very good. Mouthfeel: It is light bodied with good carbonation and a light tartness which is nice. The aftertaste is mango and has a bit of a Jolly Rancher quality. There are notes of tangerine flesh as well as juice. Taste: It tastes like biting into a tangerine. Not much head retention and no lacing.Īroma: It smells a bit like toasted rye and sesame sticks with garlic and hints of lemon. It has a very short white head that is sparse and bubbly. Very fuzzy shadows are visible through the glass.
